This is it.

This year was one hell of a journey. I went from a quiet mediocre art student to a graphic designer who figured out her path.

The results: I got a great portfolio and some pretty good leads sofar!

Special thanks to Genevieve for giving me the opportunity to be in her class! And thanks to Bryan and my classmates for helping out as well and being able to give me good feedback. And thanks to my family, especially to my mom, for all their support!!!!

To my grandmother, I know you were counting down the days until my graduation and unfortunately a horrible thing called death prevents you from being there on that special day, but I know you'll be there in spirit. I love you and I miss you.

I graduate in a week. Life is about to change.

Portfolio time!

So I've been working on my cover and layout for my portfolio. Right now I'm just laying things out and whatever cover I end up choosing, I'll give it the aesthetic I gave to the cover so it can tie well together. Portfolio is going to be 19x13.

This one is a simple cover with my logo, but one thing I did was have outlines shadowing it, plus using the colors CMYK. I feel that it does pop out pretty well and is attention grabbing. Question is, should I leave it as is or does it need information?

This cover I used the same style as my pencil packages (self promo). I'm not sure if it works as a big book cover, though.

Whatever I pick, I will have them silkscreened on bookcloth and then make it as a nice hardcover for better durability.

My layout sofar.

I think as part of self-promo, I'll add a business card, letterhead, and envelope.

I'll add more details once I figure out the cover.

Finished with USB Cassette!

Not the best pictures, but will look nicer in the photoshoot. These are just for now.

Layout and logo for a clearer read...
I'm currently putting the box for my Muhammad Ali first aid kit together, but this is what the front and side will look like. The rest is just going to be red and white.

Photoshoot!

Might go back to retouch some more if I missed any.

Tuesday I'll be shooting some more. I'll be doing an outdoor shoot with my Access posters hung around in the public and then another studio shoot for my thesis book, Love Is In The Air USB cassette, Muhammad Ali First Aid Kit, and my self-promo pencils (which should be coming in by the end of this week).

Coming up: Plugging in my Access products in my thesis book and what I have sofar in my portfolio layout!

Special thanks to Kara for helping me photograph my pieces and to Gen for recommending her!

Camellia Herbal Tea

The tea packaging itself is going to be a cylinder package. The layout is done, but I'm doing something in photoshop, so I'll post that once it's done. These are going to be citrus-infused herbal tea flavors. Inside the top will be the slice images which will be a scratch-n-sniff image. The other group of images, the left is the hangtags and the bottom are the teabag packages. I'm thinking of including some recipes on the back of each.

As for my "Love Is In The Air" packaging (which I've been doing for my CD packaging class), I'm debating whether to do a normal CD package or go digital (USB). I also decided to do one for break-up songs.

Other plans I've decided to do is do 2 or 3 pieces per week (pushing for 3) while finishing my thesis book, which is almost done. I just need to create a few more spreads and re-create the cover as discussed in class.

I'm alive

What I've been up to...

Edited my webpage spread, putting the banner of me wearing the tshirts in there since I was told it's the weakest part of my book.

A continuation on discussing on the 404 errors in the US based on nazi and white supremacy sites.

My edit to my social media vellum foldout.
Did a spread on blogger imprisonment (bloggers going to jail for blogging pretty much something offensive that pisses off the government).

Didn't do much changes to this one, I just used Unibody for the title and made the text heavier.

My attempt in using gov't docs as inspiration. I find it plain, though. Probably going to have to add a few elements at least. Although I was inspired with the "This page has been left blank intentionally" pages. I'm doing something with that, which will be like alot of pages. I'll try to explain more about that in an upcoming blog. That chunk will be printed all in vellum.

The next group of pictures is a packaging I did based on the media foldout spread I did. I made it into a roll of tape, and I based it the idea of "covering" things and the same concept of overlaying so it would be hard to read the words.

I've been working on this CD packaging project, it's a packaging based on Romance and we were encouraged to think outside the standard 5x5 packaging. I did a heart shaped box like those box of chocolates they sell for Valentine's Day. The two on top is front and back (white heart in center of the front cover will be printed in gold), bottom is inside pattern and CD.

And this is what the lyrics booklet will look like sofar. It'll be an accordian fold and in a "paperdoll" style.

And this is just swipe to keep me inspired.

I'm probably going to do another packaging project from my list this week to catch up.

I have a layout of my book as sketches, but I'm probably just going to put little samples in order so I have something solid and organized for the blog during my process in finishing this book up.

Working on more stuff.
